I’m Stacey Moran. I’m a devoted mother and a supportive wife. A daughter to two loving parents and a friend to some of the most terrific people in Stonnington.
In short, I’m a local just like you.
Having lived in Stonnington for 20 years, I’d like to think that I have become an authentic part of our community, as much as the City has become a part of me. It has come to my attention that we need to come together as a community to improve the place we call home. To that end, I’m proud to announce that it is my intention to run for South Ward Councillor in the Stonnington Local Government election.
I have four key areas I am passionate about within our community;
First, I believe that Stonnington residents need more than the simple maintenance of household rates. We need a decrease in rates. I propose a 10% discount on rates for 12 months, with a review at the end of the year.
Second, I believe we shouldn’t have to wait weeks for online responses. And if we do, we should get some indication of response time. I propose that the Stonnington website implement an “Application Status” option. I value transparency and believe that a constantly updated queue will rebuild the bond between the council and residents.
Third, I don’t believe that Stonnington’s maintenance on our parks is enough. I think that on top of gardening maintenance, we need improvements made to the equipment and overall experience of our parks that will appeal to and attract a broader spectrum of people.
And last, I hope to restore Chapel Street to its former glory. People used to travel from far and wide just to go to Chapel Street, a strip that historically bursts with energy. Let’s trade in the vacancies for vibrancy and re-energise our beloved fashion and social hub.
It’s time for a fresh focus.
